Making Solid apps on the side — solidproject.org.
It's been a long time in the making, but I finally have a visual update for my upcoming #Solid app! It's still work in progress, and I don't expect to release it at least until the beginning of next year, but it's starting to show its real form :)
Starting in an hour!
Are you a #Solid developer and do you want to share lists of movies with your friends? Check out Media Kraken Viewer: https://noeldemartin.github.io/media-kraken/viewer
Next week I'll be talking about Media Kraken at Solid World, come join us! #Solid https://www.eventbrite.com/e/solid-world-tickets-135541896461
After some months of side-project work, here's my new #Solid app. If you don't have a Solid POD, data will be stored locally and you can upgrade to Solid when you're ready! Media Kraken will help you keep track of your media, starting with movies in v0.1. https://noeldemartin.github.io/media-kraken/
Here's a sneak peek of the #solid media tracker I'm working on! I've probably spent more time than I should implementing some animations, but I'm happy with the results! https://noeldemartin.com/tasks/implementing-a-media-tracker-using-solid#comment-6
Here you can find the slides from my talk at #BlockchainSpirit yesterday, thanks to everyone who was there! #Solid https://speakerdeck.com/noeldemartin/showcasing-an-app-that-uses-the-solid-protocol-for-decentralized-storage
Here you can find my slides and a summary of yesterday's presentation on #Solid #MyData https://speakerdeck.com/noeldemartin/an-introduction-to-solid
Today I'll be talking about #Solid in the #MyData meetup (talk in Catalan). Come join us! https://www.meetup.com/MyData-Barcelona/events/268485856/
I am attending #fosdem this weekend, anyone around who wants to talk about #solid and #linkeddata? https://noeldemartin.com/tasks/attending-fosdem-2020
The #fosdem talk about #solid has been uploaded! Check it out for a neat introduction to what's Solid and what it tries to achieve: https://ftp.heanet.ie/mirrors/fosdem-video/2019/Janson/solid_web_decentralization.mp4
I just completed the first version of my Task Manager using #Solid https://noeldemartin.com/tasks/implementing-a-task-manager-using-solid
Seems like #solid server implementations don't support SPARQL yet, keep that in mind when working with applications storing a lot of data. The current recommendation is to use Globbing instead.
Since I started looking into #solid, I realized it's built on top of many existing technologies I didn't know much about. Check out some basic concepts I'd recommend getting familiar with before learning it: https://noeldemartin.com/tasks/implementing-a-task-manager-using-solid#comment-2
I've been reading about #solid and I am surprised to see that it's, conceptually, almost the same as a project I had been incubating for months. I haven't decided if I will start contributing to solid or continue on my own (or a combination of both). In case you want to check out what I was doing (it's still not even close to release), check it out in those repos:
