I just got a cookie notice in an app :/ Yes, an installed app, not a PWA. Is that weird or is it me?

@DavidDarnes I'd recommend giving it a try, it's very intuitive and you can also do components if you wish to. The only drawback is that you actually need to know CSS, but as we're talking about it's not really a problem :D. For me the best part is not having to think about naming things all the time "I will call this card, and this box, this primary button, this call to action, ..." You just have to worry about how you want it to look.

@DavidDarnes Yeah I agree, in fact in most of my latest projects I am choosing TailwindCSS, which is almost like no framework.

@craigmaloney Lol, was it Podio? I got the same email and I don't even remember what I used it for. I don't even want to login so that the account remains inactive and they delete it xD.

Ok migration done! It was easier than expected 😀.

So I moved from Ubuntu 16.04 to 18.04 using a new machine. I use docker so I didn't have to rebuild the database, I just copied the files over.

Some stats:

- It took ~1 hour of work.
- In roughly 2 weeks that I've been in Mastodon, my instance has accumulated ~932MB of media and ~19MB database.
- I have not noticed the "downtime" at all, If anyone talked to me or something let me know, but I don't think it happened.

Well I am going to migrate my instance from Ubuntu 16.04 to 18.04, so it may be down for a while, or something weird may happen.

But since it's fun, feel free to interact with me anyways, just to see what happens :P Keep in mind I may not receive it though.

@Gargron Well they are not 100% useless, I see a difference from my local and federated timelines. But yeah I get your point. It's cool thou because I can create my own community I guess.

@Gargron Hey I just heard the changelog podcast where you talk about Mastodon. I feel like I get a better grasp of the community now, but when you talk about what instances are and how they are centered about a "community" or "interests", you did not mention instances of one and what part they play on the ecosystem. Is that because that use-case doesn't happen a lot? Or what do you think about them?

@dajbelshaw Well I don't know, I think Vue has reached a level of maturity were that can't be considered to be a problem. If anything I would say it's better because it has a BDFL controlling the ship (I don't know if it's also the case for React).

But yeah, I think it's only a matter of opinion, both are great choices.

@adamprocter Btw are you getting this notifications as well? I haven't been using Mastodon for long, and because I don't see your mention in those replies I'm not sure if you get the messages from this thread.

@dajbelshaw Yeah I know, we talked about it on the birdsite (before I had my Mastodon account) twitter.com/NoelDeMartin/statu

At the end I guess it comes down to personal opinion, both are good choices. I just love Vue too much :D. And I don't like that React is from Facebook.

@dajbelshaw Yeah I also like Vue way better, but seems like React is getting a lot of traction :(

JavaScript is like salt. If you add just enough salt to a dish, it’ll help make the flavour awesome. Add too much though, and you’ll completely ruin it.

Similarly, if you add just enough JavaScript to your website, it’ll help make it awesome. Add too much though, and you’ll completely ruin it.

Lately when I read or hear a statement from a company including the word "nuanced", whatever follows is bullshit.

@meredevelopment Is it wrong if I recommend myself? :P You can also look at this website to find recommendations communitywiki.org/trunk

Why do most APIs from big companies have congruency issues? I would think the bigger a company is, the most important having a solid data model is.

@Gargron Have you considered using VuePress? It supports markdown and it has a plugin system that let's do basically whatever you want.

Have your own standards.

@lanodan Yeah I guess, but that's only useful if you are subscribed and want to read it regularly. This is the scenario where I just wanted to read an article I got from a search result. Maybe search engines could somewhat provide the RSS version of a post :D
