@humanetech @baldur @benwerd Yes I agree that the boundary between Inrupt and the Solid Community is fuzzy, and maybe there's not as much activity in the community as we would like. But I just wanted to clear up that it's definitely not 100% commercial. As to how much % is commercial or not, that's up for debate.

@humanetech @baldur @benwerd Sure, I agree that those problems exist. And I agree that what happened with the web is very unlikely to happen with Solid. But anyone reading that article without any context may think that Tim's idea of Solid is a startup, and that he's given up on his public-minded ideals. But I don't think that's true.

The fact of how it's turning out is a different topic. If Tim created the web today with the same mindset, it wouldn't produce the same results either.

@baldur @benwerd I agree with 99% of the post, but I want to point out that Tim Berners-Lee subsequent attempt is not a startup. The correct link to refer to Solid is solidproject.org. There are others working on Solid besides Inrupt, and that includes indie developers with no eyes on profit (such as me). Even Tim Berners-Lee's involvement with Solid is not purely commercial. That doesn't invalidate the main point of the article, but I think it's important to make the distinction.

@rosano You published this a while ago, right? It'd be useful to see dates on those publications :) I understand it's like a digital garden and you may edit it at any time... But maybe you could show "original publication" and "last update" or something.

@rosano Great first episode! I actually agree on not following recipes to a T, but I still think having recipes is useful because otherwise I end up cooking always the same thing. Having a list of recipes is helpful to remind me of my options :).

We just opened a couple of positions for the Mobile Apps team at Moodle! A PHP developer and an Ionic developer. We are a small team based in Barcelona (working remotely), check it out if you want to join us.

@rosano Well it's not that I don't like using color per se, I like your logo for Joybox for example, but these ones give me the impression that they don't have enough contrast. Maybe you can check with tools like webaim.org/resources/contrastc or myndex.com/APCA/

I usually prefer plain colors to gradients, but that's just my opinion. It's difficult to say with these things, so don't take my opinion too seriously :).

@rosano @changbai I understand that you'll invite guests and have them talk about their side-projects or hobbies, in particular something they are not known for but they are still passionate about (?).

@rosano If I had to choose between A/B/C maybe I'd choose B because it looks more "readable" (meaning it's easier to see the logo itself). I wonder if any of them would be an issue for people with color blindness or that's just my impression? But actually I prefer the black & white version :). And I like it!

I'm curious, do you have tips or have you written about your logo design process? I'm struggling on making a logo for my new app and looking for inspiration I thought your logos were great.

As always, if you want to follow the updates about the project you can get them here: noeldemartin.com/now

It's been a long time in the making, but I finally have a visual update for my upcoming app! It's still work in progress, and I don't expect to release it at least until the beginning of next year, but it's starting to show its real form :)

@cblgh I tried this one a while ago that replaces butter with avocado and it was pretty neat 🥑 youtube.com/watch?v=Ggwbgp2H5U

Do you want to make apps using the protocol, but don't know where to start? This Wednesday I'm going to present a Hello World I've been working on, that just uses plain JavaScript and HTML (no frameworks!). Come and join the conversation! chat.0data.app/t/zero-data-swa

#ZeroData swap 4 will be a 'hello world' presentation with @noeldemartin and i for the simplest implementations for each protocol chat.0data.app/t/zero-data-swa

(still looking for a volunteer to do an easy @remotestorage or @fission integration)

@dokoissho @rosano Nice :D some day when I implement tracking TV shows you'll be able to add Squid Game too! Or do you mean literal squids? xD

In January I'll be traveling abroad for the first time in 2 years, and what better occasion than to attend in Amsterdam. I don't know how it took me this long to attend a Laravel conference, but it's finally going to happen. I'm super excited to meet my fellow artisans!

Some months ago I uninstalled WhatsApp from my phone, and it's been by far the most difficult technology to stop using... Only yesterday I was changing my internet provider, and they required me to have a WhatsApp account to confirm the appointment with the technician.

So I hope this "meta" thing doesn't catch on -.- about.fb.com/news/2021/10/face
