Well, that didn't last :/ Frankly, I still prefer the supported model for many reasons, but I guess I'm in the minority https://tim.blog/2019/07/11/why-im-stopping-the-fan-supported-podcast-experiment/
Some days ago I found a package to finally replace momentjs (it weights too much): https://github.com/iamkun/dayjs Worked like a charm so far!
#TIL Ok, I just realized github issues and PRs cannot have the same number because their ids are generated from each other (if you create an issue and then a PR they'll be issue #1 and PR #2) 🤯
#Vue devs, how would you fix this? The animation is triggered with CSS when the content disappears, but that's not nice. I've created a component I'm calling "Freezable": https://gist.github.com/NoelDeMartin/7414586bae62f79bcf9bfb9f12b13316
I've just published a new blog post! https://noeldemartin.com/blog/real-time-vs-asynchronous-communication
@daibarnes @dajbelshaw listening to the TIDE podcast, I'm wondering about what you mentioned on interview practice. I agree that it's useful, but I dread interviews so much. Not the interviews, but all the "work" related with applying (looking for offers, learning about the company, preparing a cover letter/introduction email, going to the interview if it's in person, etc). What's your opinion on that? Or do you think it's ok to apply without any preparation if it's "just for practice"?
Just watched Alita: Battle Angel
I think the first 3/4 of the movie were quite good, but the last part felt a bit rushed and lacking. The manga is better in my opinion, but this adaptation is still better than Ghost in the Shell, and I'd consider it a good standalone movie. A step in the right direction for Hollywood on manga/anime adaptations.
Wow, listening to Mozilla's IRL podcast I just found out that Pokemon Go is also surveillance capitalism, because they have partnerships with companies such as McDonald's that'll pay them for bringing customers by placing strategic pokestops 😱 https://irlpodcast.org/season4/episode5/
The #fosdem talk about #solid has been uploaded! Check it out for a neat introduction to what's Solid and what it tries to achieve: https://ftp.heanet.ie/mirrors/fosdem-video/2019/Janson/solid_web_decentralization.mp4
We've had some months of #GDPR now. Do we know of any case where it's been enforced or punished with fines? Or will it become one of those regulations that people ignore?
I just found out about https://duckduckgo.com/lite and it's awesome :D
Damn, I don't think I can leave the decentralization/privacy room, too many interesting talks #fosdem
I just finished rewriting my site about Autonomous Data, which is the application architecture I'll be working with for a while. From now on I'll focus on actually shipping some! https://noeldemartin.github.io/autonomous-data/
Next week I'll be at #FOSDEM, anyone going? I'm still pondering which talks to attend. One I'll visit for sure is the one about Solid! https://fosdem.org/2019/schedule/event/solid_web_decentralization/
Yesterday I was working on migrating my website to Docker, and I decided to use a Docker nginx container as reverse proxy. Instead of using some tool to automate the process I just wrote a couple of bash scripts to have more control. Check them out if you are interested in learning about it: https://github.com/noeldemartin/nginx-agora
@dajbelshaw I don't know if I'm still on time, but Happy Birthday to your daughter :D
