I wonder why my phone doesn't allow activating "battery saving mode" when charging. Wouldn't it charge faster?

@Floppy Hm yeah I see. I guess the safer way to go about it is indeed having a single text field and dumping whatever they type in the database, with some sensible length limitations.

I'll keep it in mind for my next apps!

I just found out the app I use to listen podcasts has a "hidden" stats page. And I've realized how much time I spend listening to them. I enjoy them, but I consume them mostly when I cannot do anything else like reading or programming (basically exercise/commuting). Bittersweet.

I'm sure if I eliminated my commute there are some I would still keep listening thou :D.

There are two kinds of developers: the ones who rely on logging output and the ones who use a debugger.

I fall on the first category, but today I had to use a debugger (I needed to find a memory leak).

It was a good experience, so be sure to combine both to get the best of both worlds!

@craigmaloney Well JavaScript came to mind, but I'm sure there are a lot of languages I don't even know that have demand.

@craigmaloney Well on the other hand, some businesses with outdated technology need those developers. For example, frameworks like Vue and React are pretty hot these days, but there is still a lot of businesses who work with jQuery and Backbone.

#TIL I always thought it wasn't possible to show new files in git diffs, since `git diff` only shows changes on existing files. But you can add your changes to the staging area and use `git diff --cached > diff.patch`! That way you can later restore it with `git apply diff.patch`. It's basically like stashing, but having a file you can share with others :D.

I just noticed my tracker blocker had to block Twitter SDK and Google Analytics from an official website from my government where I had to submit official documentation... How far can this go? We all now the next inevitable step is having them in our home.

Well after 5 years my Nexus 7 tablet has decided to stop working (can't install new apps). This after years of not even getting security updates. Disappointing that this happens when the device is perfectly fine. So I guess this is a good opportunity to install #LineageOS. If I'm happy with the experience, I'll probably do the same with my phone, another device working perfectly fine that hasn't got security updates for years.

@daibarnes What you mention in the podcast about "just entertainment" is interesting. I think the same piece of content, depending how the target receives it, can be just entertainment or a meaningful experience. Like most things the value is in the eyes of the beholder. One good example of the opposite is how deep topics like philosophy are taught in schools and many students are bored out of their minds.

Looking for a new position that fits my values is tough. I've been thinking about it and I decided to write it down, check it out. Also, let me know if you are aware of an opportunity where I can fit! Mostly looking for a remote fullstack/frontend/backend developer position.

@Gargron Funny story, I have been incubating an idea for some months and it's really similar to this, I wasn't aware of Solid existing. So I'll have to choose whether to continue or focus my efforts on helping Solid. I was planning on using OAuth + GraphQL basically.
