Do you want to make apps using the protocol, but don't know where to start? This Wednesday I'm going to present a Hello World I've been working on, that just uses plain JavaScript and HTML (no frameworks!). Come and join the conversation! chat.0data.app/t/zero-data-swa

#ZeroData swap 4 will be a 'hello world' presentation with @noeldemartin and i for the simplest implementations for each protocol chat.0data.app/t/zero-data-swa

(still looking for a volunteer to do an easy @remotestorage or @fission integration)

@dokoissho @rosano Nice :D some day when I implement tracking TV shows you'll be able to add Squid Game too! Or do you mean literal squids? xD

In January I'll be traveling abroad for the first time in 2 years, and what better occasion than to attend in Amsterdam. I don't know how it took me this long to attend a Laravel conference, but it's finally going to happen. I'm super excited to meet my fellow artisans!

Some months ago I uninstalled WhatsApp from my phone, and it's been by far the most difficult technology to stop using... Only yesterday I was changing my internet provider, and they required me to have a WhatsApp account to confirm the appointment with the technician.

So I hope this "meta" thing doesn't catch on -.- about.fb.com/news/2021/10/face

@humanetech I guess I'm not surprised 😞 Maybe you can find a website to try, I just did a couple of searches and there are Emoji mashup builders online but they don't produce the same results.

@humanetech It's built with Gboard, you just switch the keyboard to emojis instead of characters and if you pick two you'll see the mashup lifehacker.com/create-and-cust

This is apparently year-old news, but I just found out you can create Emoji mashups in Android and that's awesome :D.

For example, 🌶️ + 💘 =

@humanetech cool, thanks for letting me know :D

I still have to read your response in the forum, but I think it's ok to talk about that, you can't always separate tech from people. If it goes too much off topic you can always branch into a new topic.

One of the reasons why I am working with Solid is that it embraces interoperability as one of its core values. But there is a lot of nuance about what that looks like in practice. In this blog post, I share my thoughts on the topic. noeldemartin.com/blog/interope

I've just released an alpha version of an app I'm working on. It's not production-ready, but I'd appreciate it if you give me some feedback: forum.solidproject.org/t/reque

Cancelled a job interview 🎉

Cancelled a job interview 🎉

@dajbelshaw @JordiGH I don't know, I think each organization is a different world in that regard. But yeah, for most of them it's probably as you say.

Personally I don't care about my job title, and I don't think I care about my "career path" either. I just want to do something I enjoy doing :). And improve following my curiosity, rather than having a plan.

@dajbelshaw I agree with @JordiGH's point, not everyone wants to be "promoted" in that way. But yes, it is tricky to define what a Senior is/isn't. I like how Basecamp put it basecamp.com/handbook/appendix

@tychi Yeah I know waiting for the network is annoying, that's why the app I'm working on will be offline-first, and I'll eventually update Media Kraken as well :D. But it's definitely not simple under the hood, it was already complicated enough with an ORM for Solid, now I'm adding sort of a CRDT 😅 .

I'd be happy to help you if you have any questions about Solid, feel free to ask me if you ever get stuck or have any doubts :).

@tychi @VincentTunru Thanks for the ping, I'll check it out and I'll be looking forward to see what you make with Solid :).

Going for Simple is probably a good idea, it seems like I've taken the complete opposite route and I'm second guessing that choice every day xD. I do want my apps to last as long as the web though :).

@VincentTunru @5am @Zwifi Yes I do :) But I haven't updated it for a long while. I am still using an old version of NSS, but maybe if I did it today I would use CSS. I don't mind so much because I'm the only one using it, I don't host data for anyone else.

You can read about how I did it in my website. Since I wrote that, I haven't changed a single thing: noeldemartin.com/tasks/configu

PS:

NSS - github.com/solid/node-solid-se
CSS - github.com/solid/community-ser

@VincentTunru @Zwifi @michielbdejong That's indeed bittersweet news. It's been a pleasure to have you in the Solid community. Thanks for all your work, and hopefully I'll continue seeing you around (even if not as much :D).
