One of the reasons why I am working with Solid is that it embraces interoperability as one of its core values. But there is a lot of nuance about what that looks like in practice. In this blog post, I share my thoughts on the topic. https://noeldemartin.com/blog/interoperable-serendipity
I've just released an alpha version of an app I'm working on. It's not production-ready, but I'd appreciate it if you give me some feedback: https://forum.solidproject.org/t/request-for-comments-crdtish-approach-to-solid/4211/14
@dajbelshaw @JordiGH I don't know, I think each organization is a different world in that regard. But yeah, for most of them it's probably as you say.
Personally I don't care about my job title, and I don't think I care about my "career path" either. I just want to do something I enjoy doing :). And improve following my curiosity, rather than having a plan.
@dajbelshaw I agree with @JordiGH's point, not everyone wants to be "promoted" in that way. But yes, it is tricky to define what a Senior is/isn't. I like how Basecamp put it https://basecamp.com/handbook/appendix-05-titles-for-programmers
@tychi Yeah I know waiting for the network is annoying, that's why the app I'm working on will be offline-first, and I'll eventually update Media Kraken as well :D. But it's definitely not simple under the hood, it was already complicated enough with an ORM for Solid, now I'm adding sort of a CRDT 😅 .
I'd be happy to help you if you have any questions about Solid, feel free to ask me if you ever get stuck or have any doubts :).
@tychi @VincentTunru Thanks for the ping, I'll check it out and I'll be looking forward to see what you make with Solid :).
Going for Simple is probably a good idea, it seems like I've taken the complete opposite route and I'm second guessing that choice every day xD. I do want my apps to last as long as the web though :).
@VincentTunru @5am @Zwifi Yes I do :) But I haven't updated it for a long while. I am still using an old version of NSS, but maybe if I did it today I would use CSS. I don't mind so much because I'm the only one using it, I don't host data for anyone else.
You can read about how I did it in my website. Since I wrote that, I haven't changed a single thing: https://noeldemartin.com/tasks/configuring-a-self-hosted-solid-pod-server
PS:

@VincentTunru @Zwifi @michielbdejong That's indeed bittersweet news. It's been a pleasure to have you in the Solid community. Thanks for all your work, and hopefully I'll continue seeing you around (even if not as much :D).
@VincentTunru I just learned a new term that may be useful (as long as it doesn't become a target), "cyclomatic complexity". Not sure how easy it is to calculate, though.
@dajbelshaw @epilepticrabbit Yes, this is how it looks like in the app I use (podcast addict).
Thanks :)
@dajbelshaw @epilepticrabbit I'm trying to see where the timestamps are defined but it doesn't appear anywhere on the RSS feed, so I think the metadata is embedded on the audio file. I have never done it myself, but it seems like these are called "chapters", searching for "podcast chapters" online there seem to be some articles explaining it. Sorry if I can't be more useful 🙈 .
@dajbelshaw @epilepticrabbit I think it's fine if you don't overthink it, I wouldn't say that's the reason why I liked it. I liked the other episodes as well, it's just that I found all those insights into coops very interesting because I know almost nothing about them :).
And about topic markers, unfortunately not many do it well :(. Which is why when I see someone using them it's great! One example of a podcast that has it is this one https://designdetails.fm/
@dajbelshaw @epilepticrabbit I just finished listening to all 6! I'm enjoying the podcast, and I'm looking forward to next season :D. Not to be boring, but the one I enjoyed the most is the first one when you talked about different types of coops. It's also nice that you sometimes have guests and sometimes you don't. And something to improve, it'd be nice to have topic timestamps (sorry Laura xD). I don't always listen to episodes in one go, and it is useful to know where to stop :).
@rosano Thanks :) Well, I played guitar but I haven't played for a while now. I'll probably pick it up at some point... It may take more than 10 years though, because I have many other things I want to do now xD
@VincentTunru Nice, I didn't know you also had a 4-day workweek :D.
And yes, I saved that toot when I saw it because I knew it'd come in handy :). I totally agree with it.
Today makes 10 years since I started my journey as a developer! Here's what it's been like and what I've learned. https://noeldemartin.com/blog/10-years-as-a-software-developer
@VincentTunru I see, that's a bummer yes :(.
But as I understand it, lists don't have to use blank nodes, do they? Only the shorthand turtle syntax does. Instead of using `_:b0`, I could just write `<#ingredient-123456>` in those examples and it should work right?
